; A;
So dead.
At least I tried.

99, 102, 15 and 04 are my favorites, personally.
(Don't pass #15 up just 'cause it's black-and-white... it's actually pretty good. :3 )

Please, Judges, for the love of God...

This IS NOT an art contest. Don't choose the winner by how well-drawn the entry is.

Some, like me (who used MS Paint) lack the resources or skills to make a professional piece for you. Be fair, and don't judge by the way it looks.

~Thanks.

#13 Looks cute but I think her voice sounds more "mature" (just how I see it) and the art looks like a teenager (or rather younger). Although #52 and #85 seems to attach the "Sonic" word derived from Sonika's name.

Well I just hope it's not the art quality that will be measured in judging because a lot of them have good ideas ;D

The entries look cool. Howeer I think Sonika's design should really stray from the green hair. Something new would look more fresh in my opinion. (ex. 95, 72, 103)

i like these for one reason or another...
102, 99, 95, 92, 90, 86, 85, 82, 78, 77, 75, 73, 68, 56, 39, 38, 37, 34, 33, 32, 31, 30, 14, 11

top 10...
95, 92, 86, 68, 56, 39, 38, 30, 14, 102

top 3...
95
although this entry comes completely out of left field when compared to the original Sonika design, it manages to stand on its own merits. at first the design seems bland in comparison to the gold and green of the original design, but the subtle black, white and gray theme and unique tube skirt over a uniform design are quite original and interesting, and are highlighted very nicely by the pleasant teal blue colors throughout the outfit. using a yin-yang symbol and turning it into an S symbol to represent Sonika is also a stroke of genius. I have to complement their bravery in choosing a hair style and color that is completely different than the original character design, it looks wonderful with the design as a whole, and few were brave enough or had the vision to deliver such a unique concept. the art itself is also very well done, looking very much like it came out of a modern anime, and has a style similar to the moe genre (e.g. Haruhi Suzumiya, Kannagi). The major problem with this design is, of course, that it basically abandons everything that made Sonika what we know her as... a hard pill for many fans to swallow.

wow, somebody knows how to sell an outfit. this is a great example of taking the original Sonika design and giving it a healthy fashion overhaul. it screams modern fashion design, with sparkles, patterns and textures mixed through the outfit. the top makes her seem like she's about to go to a party at a rich mansion, while the bottom makes her look like she's about to hit the clubs, and it all has a very youthful trendy vibe. incorporating the black into the design helps create great contrast with the classic bright gold and green. the artist extended Sonika's original hair length a bit and added some gold/green highlights which is an interesting detail and helps distinguish her from certain other vocaloids. and the art itself is also very well done. the anatomy is accurate and attractive, the whole design has amazing and obviously painstaking detail, and they obviously put a lot of thought into the posing and background, which really helps sell her look. it also has a trendy modern anime feel, probably laying somewhere in the shojo or josei style (e.g. Skip Beat, Honey and Clover). the major problem with this one is its sheer complexity, few people could draw this design while giving it justice.

102, 30, 14
i'll be honest, i'm torn between these, so i'll just say they're tied and talk about each in brief. to take the honesty further, i'm not sure these are particularly better than the other top ten.

102 takes the original design and takes it down a relaxed fashionable route by making subtle variations, using a nice black and white contrast, adding a few simple accessories, and playing with the hair style a bit. there isn't anything world shaking here, but it manages to subtly reconstruct Sonika's design towards a more trendy fashionable look. this designs major flaw is it that it might be a little too subtle a shift to warrant a redesign.

30 uses a powerful and well placed gold and black motif and simplistic yet clever design to create a very youthful and energetic feeling. it mixes several fairly common but rarely combined elements in interesting ways, while managing to make it all flow together. for example, the golden, hooded, sleeveless jacket and the black and white sailor suite with a thin green ribbon. this one's only flaw might be that it wouldn't fit anywhere in reality (except an anime convention)

14 is a design which takes a moment to see the cleverness in. the artist uses a fairly subtle white and black look seen in other designs, but adds a heavy dose of red to contrast with Sonika's green hair, and preserves the gold theme using rings, bells, and zippers. it does a good job of adding the 'items' many people are arguing over, while creating its own unique look and feel. this design's one flaw is it might be a bit showy (and the feet anatomy is off, but at least you can see the red heels clearly)

apologies for writing such an extensive comment, i had no idea it was going to happen at the beginning...i guess i was itching to do some art critiquing.

lol@xxwingedxx

Sonika just looks good with Green hair imo... I don't know why. I think Red hair is also good, due to her eyes being green.
